Coronavirus Update

Unfortunately, difficult conditions during 2020 meant that EuropeAxess Media Ltd. could no longer publish the Gibraltar Diocesan Newsletter, ‘Upon This Rock’. The December Issue (234) of that year was the last we produced.

All the team would like to thank Fr. Stuart Chipolina for his collaboration in the project, all the Advertisers and Sponsors for their support, as well as the readers, in Gibraltar and around the world who were so supportive of the initiative for so many years.

The Background

In the autumn of 1999, the late Bishop Charles Caruana asked Fr. Stuart Chipolina to start a diocesan newsletter. Fr. Chipolina approached EuropeAxess Media in order to realise this idea and the first Upon This Rock magazine was launched in time for Christmas that year. Since its launch the magazine has grown in popularity.

Along with our loyal followers, other influential personalities, such as the former Governor of Gibraltar, Sir Robert Fulton, asked for copies of the magazine to be sent directly to them. In the summer of 2013, Archbishop Vincent Nichols asked for a copy to be sent to him in the UK after encountering the publication and meeting the production editor on his visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe.

All the heads of the other Christian denominations in Gibraltar had copies sent at their request. Copies were being sent as far afield as, Canada and Northern Ireland. More recent back issues of the magazine are available online and are read around the world.

Upon this Rock also has a Facebook Page used to regularly publish posts on Twitter and Instagram.
